A group of members of more than 390,000 IT professionals from around 150 countries proposed to introduce 40 Gigabit Ethernet Technology in July 2006. This organization is known as an IEEE or the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers responsible for the Ethernet standards that bring us the fastest data transfer technology is known man.
Until now, we still depend on their 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GBE) technology for our data exchange needs. What the goal of IEEE is to improve this performance up to 4 and 10 times. After almost a year of contemplation, this project looks very profitable, and so the task force is assembled to take over.
Label 802.3BA, follow the original 802.3, given to the project. And the main goal is to be able to publish a standard of 40GBE and 100GBE speed, both greater than 10Gbe. There are two levels of speed, to be able to serve both small needs such as home offices (40GBE) and large servers demand like the Internet (100Gbe).
Even though there are 40 Gigabit Technologies implemented by combining four 10GBE technologies into one mode, 40GBE which is estimated to be completely different. The latest 40GBE will be formed into only one individual form, such as 10Gbe network technology with wider capabilities.
Within about 3 years in the process, this project continues to grow. Since the end of 2008 until early 2009, there have been nine drafts of work published by the 802.3BBA task force. The task force attaches to the main plan to create new and faster information exchange facilities without deviating from the 802.3 base, the interface used by 10Gbe.
And because of their core similarity, the level of 40 Gigabit Ethernet technology with 10GBE for flexibility with various standard physical layers. With the use of certain removable modules and adjustable circuit boards, 40GBE can provide a stable connection between devices even though different distances distance.
It is expected that 40GBE technology will only be available in June 2010. There is nothing less, the detained module is available by certain technology companies for various sales and testing since 2009.
With signs of certainty of the project, only time problems before we start watching a new touch for our technology life. So, if 10Gbe improves how to transmit our data, believe that technology 40 gigabit will leave more wonders for our computers.
